Rob Zaccheo has been teaching science at Pioneer since 1995. He currently teaches Biology Honors, Cell Biology Honors, and BioSITE.  Mr. Zaccheo also mentors the independent ecology research group Clean Streams Clean Bay.  In the past Mr, Zaccheo has been the head of the science department, coach of Girls JV Basketball, class advisor, and has taught other classes such as Biotechnology, Biology, AP Environmental Science, and Engineering Science Technology.

Born in Mountain View in 1972, Mr. Zaccheo grew up locally – in fact, he lived directly across the street from Pioneer High School.  He attended Almaden Elementary School, John Muir Middle School, and Gunderson High School.  After high school, he attended UC Santa Barbara where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1994.  Soon after college, he worked for a DNA analysis company for one year before beginning his teaching at Pioneer.  Recently, Mr.Zaccheo has spent his summers working for Affymetrix, Inc, a local biotechnology company in Santa Clara.

Mr. Zaccheo is passionate about teaching Pioneer and loves to see his students learn science and discover the amazing world of Biology.  He also enjoys watching his students grow and mature as young adults through their high school years.  Another enjoyable part of teaching at Pioneer for Mr. Zaccheo is that four of his closest childhood friends as well as his brother are also teachers here.

Mr. Zaccheo has been married to his soul mate from Australia since March of 1998 and recently has become a father of a beautiful girl.  An “unhealthy” fan of the University of Michigan sports, Mr. Zaccheo likes to spend in the outdoors, especially Yosemite National Park and at his family’s cabin in Arnold, California.  Another major part of his life is traveling outside of the US.  He has been to Australia, Italy, Holland, Spain, Austria, Germany, Fiji, and Michigan.  GO BLUE!
