Mr. Follis enjoys teaching Geometry at Pioneer High. He has a strong math background which helped prepare him for this important job. He studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois, seeing firsthand how math is applied in society on a daily basis. He spent 15 years working in Industry, applying electronics/math at the chip, printed circuit board, and system level. He left industry at the height of the dot com boom to pursue his passion - teaching.
Mr. Follis is married to his lovely English born wife who teaches computers part-time. Mr. Follis has 150 kids 1 hour a day. He and his wife have worked with foster kids and animal rescue projects. Their current project involves raising an abandoned kitten ‘Sam’ who is boundary-challenged. Mr. Follis credits Sam with helping to make him a better, more patient teacher.
Mr. Follis enjoys high school and college basketball, and outdoor activities in general. He particularly enjoys when he sees students ‘shift gears’ from being underachievers and begin to reach for their full potential. He believes everyone has some type of gift and should pursue it with passion. Mr. Follis consider Pioneer to be a truly GREAT High School!
